Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Sets Quarter-Mile Record

The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat was always known for its ferocious speed, and it just proved why it is such a speed demon at a Wisconsin racetrack. A Plum Crazy Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat completed a lap at a record speed of 9.58 seconds, with a trap speed of 142.94 mph.
The previous record for the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat was 9.71 seconds, set back in November 2015. It also set the record for the fastest lap time by a supercharged sedan. The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, meanwhile, had its own record time broken more frequently over the past few months. This includes fastest lap times for both the automatic and manual transmissions.

The new record is set by a man simply identified as Steve. He holds the distinction of achieving the quickest lap time for the Dodge Charger in the world.

It should be noted, though, that the Dodge Charger driven by Steve has MOPAR parts added on. Some of the additions include drag radials, a BWoody cold air intake, a Kenne Bell Boos-A-Pump, bigger injectors, and upper and lower pulleys. The car was also tuned by car modification company Barth Tuning.

The new record puts the Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger at a near equal footing in terms of speed. The 9.58 seconds lap time puts the Dodge Charger just a hair behind the quickest Dodge Challenger, which currently holds the record of 9.46 seconds at a trap speed of 145.5 mph.
