When Is It Time to Replace Your Tires?

Do you remember when was the last time you had your tires replaced, if at all? Have you ever had the tires rotated, balanced, or aligned? These are all maintenance necessities we provide at our Performance Automall Tooele service center.

Looking at your tire treads will give you an idea if it is time for a replacement. Better yet, you can do the penny test. Here is how it works: take a penny and stick it upside down within the grooves of the tire treads. If you can still see the top of Lincoln's head, then the treads are worn and should be changed. This is an easy DIY test that you can do right now in your garage. It's also suitable for most tires, including those for larger models like the 2017 Jeep® Grand Cherokee.

To prolong tread life, be sure to inflate the tires every month to the recommended PSI. The keyword here is "recommended" and not "maximum." The PSI indicated on the tire wall is the maximum. Tires inflated to the maximum PSI are just as vulnerable to wear and tear and even a blowout. You can find the recommended psi in the vehicle user manual.

Tire maintenance is simple: inflate them once a month, and have them checked at Performance Automall Tooele every 5,000 to 8,000 miles, or whatever is indicted in the manual. An inspection will determine whether services like a rotation or alignment is necessary.

Are your tires healthy? Perform the penny test right now; it takes less than five minutes. If they look worn, then come on over to our dealership. While your vehicle is being serviced, speak with our car dealers in Tooele, UT, to learn about the newest models. We hope to see you soon!
